L.E. West becomes Official Race Supplier

In the case of an offshore emergency it is essential to have the necessary medical supplies on board to ensure that the highest quality of care can be provided.  L.E. West, one of the world’s leading suppliers of medical equipment and consumables, will be providing Clipper’s fleet of 68-foot racing yachts with comprehensive medical kits specifically designed for ocean racing.  The unique challenges of the environment and the sport require more than a standard, off-the-shelf approach.

“The safety and well-being of our crew members on the Clipper 07-08 Race is paramount,” said Clipper Chairman Sir Robin Knox-Johnston.  “We are therefore delighted to be working with L.E. West, the leading supplier of medical kit for extreme environments.”

With their specialist knowledge of providing medical supplies for offshore installations, merchant vessels, expeditions and yachts, L.E. West has used its expertise to assist Clipper Ventures in tailoring the UK Maritime and Coastguard Agency’s medical supply requirement for the Clipper 07-08 Race.  This ensures that each of the boats will be equipped for all eventualities, from the mundane requirement of paracetamol and plasters to the emergency care of an onboard injury.  The L.E. West and Clipper Ventures relationship further strengthens Clipper’s longstanding policy of putting the health and safety of its crews at the fore.
