At 120 kg these sails take teamwork to handle and it’s a lengthy operation to get the new mainsail in position. Luckily there was only a very slight breeze as Durban 2010‘s was carefully manoeuvred into place.
The sails have been manufactured in South Africa under the watchful eye of Craig Millar, who skippered Durban to a very creditable second place in the Clipper 05-06 Race and is now manager of Quantum Sails’ Durban loft. Each of the ten yachts will have a wardrobe of eleven sails designed to get the most out of the boat in whatever conditions they encounter.
